Worker crushed in basement collapse

6 Dec 10 A construction worker was killed on Thursday when a floor collapsed onto him during a basement excavation.

The 37-year-old man was employed by Hertford-based Siday Construction. He was part of a crew working on a under a £235,000 contract installing a basement under a house in Fulham’s Ellerby Street in west London.

He was crushed by rubble when the floor above collapsed and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Health & Safety Executive is investigating.
