The Opportunity A leading waste management organisation is looking for experienced Mobile Plant Fitters to support the maintenance, servicing and repair of mobile and static plant machinery within a busy operational environment.

The role covers a range of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical maintenance, including equipment such as loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers and picking lines.

Permanent position
Based in Leeds

£16-£20 per hour depending on experience
Mobile plant or heavy plant maintenance experience required
Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault-finding skills required
Waste, recycling, construction or heavy industry experience advantageous
NVQ Level 3 Plant Maintenance or equivalent preferred

Key Responsibilities

Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on mobile and static plant
Maintain loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers and picking lines
Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems
Maintain and troubleshoot electrical looms, wiring and connections
Complete mechanical and electrical diagnostics
Carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime
Maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records
Report equipment performance, reliability and recurring faults
Work with operations and engineering teams to maintain equipment availability
Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures
Report hazards, defects and incidents
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Maintenance Fitter or similar
• Experience with heavy plant or industrial equipment
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Experience with electrical wiring and looms
• Strong mechanical knowledge
• Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
• Ability to respond effectively to breakdowns
• Experience with waste processing machinery, conveyors, shredders, balers or compactors highly desirable
• NVQ Level 3 Plant Maintenance or equivalent preferred
• Proactive approach and strong commitment to safety and reliability
• Waste management, recycling, construction or heavy industry experience advantageous
