Traffic Modelling & Data Analyst Specialist - Montreal
I'm working with a growing international transport planning consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced Traffic Modelling & Data Analyst Specialist to join its Montreal team.
This is a senior technical opportunity for an experienced transport planner, traffic modeller or data analyst with a strong background in traffic modelling, transport planning and data analysis, who wants to take ownership of projects while helping develop the technical capabilities of a growing Montreal team.
The consultancy works across Canada, the US and Europe, delivering projects across sustainable urban development, public transport, street and neighbourhood redevelopment, major events and wider mobility planning.
The Role
- Lead traffic modelling and data analysis across a varied portfolio of transport planning projects.
- Manage traffic and mobility studies from inception through to delivery.
- Undertake traffic modelling, data analysis and interpretation to support transport planning and development projects.
- Use Synchro/SimTraffic to undertake traffic modelling and analysis.
- Provide technical advice to public and private-sector clients.
- Prepare and review high-quality technical reports and supporting documentation.
- Take responsibility for technical delivery and make independent technical decisions.
- Review technical work produced by other members of the team.
- Mentor and support junior members of the transport modelling team.
- Help develop new modelling tools, processes and technical approaches within the business.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Montreal, London, Bristol and Houston on projects across Canada and internationally.
- Develop expertise in additional areas such as pedestrian modelling.
About You
- 7+ years' experience in transport planning, including a strong specialism in traffic modelling and data analysis.
- Proven experience using Synchro/SimTraffic.
- Previous experience working in Montreal or elsewhere in Quebec within transport planning.
- Experience working with both public and private-sector clients.
- Fluent French and English, both written and spoken.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or another relevant discipline.
- Strong technical report-writing skills and an understanding of industry best practice.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical work.
- Experience reviewing technical work and supporting or mentoring other team members.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
- EMME
- Aimsun
- VISSIM
- Vistro
- Legion
- GIS or CAD
- Project management of mobility or traffic studies
- Business development and client relationship management
- Working within a start-up or SME environment
