The Raynes Park tennis centre acts as a support facility for the annual grand slam tournament at nearby Wimbledon as well as a public tennis club with 5,000 members.

Beard has been appointed to build a new 1,780 sqm clubhouse for the centre, which represents the final phase of a wider refurbishment of facilities.

The new building has been designed by Langstaff Day Architects with a concrete frame, steelwork elements, brickwork, timber cladding and curtain walled externals, with the majority of the roof formed out of a zinc material with cross-laminated timber.

The project consulting engineer is Cundall Johnson & Partners and the quantity surveyor is Turner & Townsend.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club acquired the 20 acre site in 1990. Over the years, the site has been used to support the Wimbledon event through the provision of six grass courts available to competitors for practice.

Works started in late 2021 and are planned for completion in late spring 2023
