Ferrovial team wins €36m Colombian road contract

8 Oct 13 A consortium led by Ferrovial Agroman has won a contract to build a €36m (£30m) section of highway in northwest Columbia.

Ferrovial Agroman will work with Colombian company Colpatria to build the connection that will link Carrera 80 in Medellín with the Pacific.

The consortium will construct 4.1km of road with two lanes in each direction, as well as four bridges. The project is part of the road network development plans to connect Medellín, Colombia's second-largest city, with the Pacific ports.

Ferrovial Agroman already has several projects under way in Colomboa, including construction of the tunnels for the Ituango hydroelectric power plant, worth €55m.  Colombia is seen as among the South American countries with the greatest growth prospects and needs for investment in new infrastructure.
