Holcim UK, formerly Aggregate Industries, has purchased the plant from Sharpness Asphalt Limited, with an accessible location next to the Severn wharf in the Sharpness area of Stroud.
The plant will close for a few weeks for remedial works and aims to reopen next month as a Holcim Express Asphalt site. These sites specialise in collection of small loads, with 30 minute turnaround times on single product loads.
Holcim UK chief executive Lee Sleight said: “This acquisition further strengthens our position in the asphalt market and bolsters our presence in the Gloucester and southwest area. We see it as being a perfect fit for our Express Asphalt business and we are excited to see what it can offer to customers in the area.”
