The project, which was formerly part of the Kent Building Schools for the Future LEP1 programme, involves construction across two sites on the east and west of the island, to serve 2,450 students.
The academy will specialise in business, enterprise and sport and its facilities will also include a media suite and dance studios.
It will be built to a renewable energy strategy aimed at reducing emissions by 60% compared with 2002 building regulation standards.

Construction work on both sites in Sheppey has just started with completion due by August 2013.
