Stu McInroy will join the Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) as chief executive in the second quarter of 2023, taking over from Kevin Minton, who is retiring.
Kevin Minton announced his retirement plans last year [see previous report here], having been with the CPA since 2007 and chief executive since May 2018, when he succeeded the long-serving Colin Wood.
Stu McInroy began his career in the Royal Air Force, reaching the rank of Wing Commander by the time he left in 2009 after 21 years. He then ran the Bookmakers’ Committee for six years before entering the world of trade associations – as chief executive of firstly the National Pawnbrokers Association and then the Road Safety Markings Association (RSMA) in March 2018.
“I'm delighted to be joining the CPA and look forward very much to working with the CPA Council, association members and staff, to protect and promote the interests of the construction plant-hire sector,” he said.
The CPA has more than 1,800 members who reckon they account for 85% of hired plant to the construction industry.
CPA president Brian Jones said that the association’s council was “looking forward to new opportunities and developments” under the new leadership.
Retiring chief executive Kevin Minton said of his chosen successor: “I’m confident that he will lead CPA to new levels of support for our members’ businesses.”
