The scheme covers the development of student accommodation, the expansion of the university campus and provision of facilities management services.
The university is seeking to establish a long-term partnership to facilitate the development of about 2,000 new study bedrooms within the existing East Slope site at the Falmer campus. The new study bedrooms should all be ready for the start of the academic year 2017/2018 with an initial phase of 600 rooms ready for the start of the academic year 2016/2017.
The proposal requires the partner to design, build, fund and operate the new residences for a period of up to 50 years following practical completion of the new buildings. It is envisaged that the partner will also be responsible for the provision of facilities management services.
The university would also like to explore with bidders the feasibility of including the development of the nearby West Slope site for new student accommodation and whether both sites could be delivered using an incremental partnership.
