Atkins will continue to provide a variety of on-site construction management services under the contract with the NPS’s central planning, design and construction management project office in Denver. Schemes will be assigned on an indefinite quantity basis under a blanket purchase agreement until 2018.

Since 1998, Atkins has sperformed more than 220 separate task orders for NPS - valued at over US$27m (£17m) - at more than 80 locations in 25 states. Project sites include work in the Everglades, Grand Canyon and Death Valley and at Alcatraz Island. Recent projects have included on-site construction management services for the US$7.6m of the visitor centre and exhibit hall at Dinosaur National Monument in Dinosaur, Colorado. In addition, Atkins recently completed on-site construction management and inspection portion of an extensive US$30m project to improve visitor accessibility and safety at the Statue of Liberty in New York.

“While supporting NPS, Atkins has had the great opportunity to work on many of America’s national historic landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty, Alexander Hamilton’s home in New York City, Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall, and even Alcatraz,” said Atkins project director Gary Self. “We always look forward to addressing the unique challenges presented by national parks projects, including often working at remote sites prone to harsh weather and/or environmentally or culturally sensitive resources that demand special care, coordination, and expertise.”
