We are recruiting a Senior Air Quality Consultant to join a specialist environmental consultancy delivering air quality, odour and emissions projects across industry and government sectors.

Role Overview

As a Senior Air Quality Consultant you will manage the end-to-end delivery of air quality, odour and emissions projects, combining technical consultancy, on-site monitoring and client engagement. You will develop measurement strategies, manage monitoring campaigns and interpret and report on environmental and emissions data. You will also undertake atmospheric dispersion modelling, impact assessments and site surveys.

This is a client-facing role involving collaboration with internal teams, site operators and external consultants. The position is hybrid, with a high volume of travel to sites across the Midlands, North and South West of England. Travel elsewhere in the UK and Ireland, occasional international travel and overnight stays may also be required.

Important Eligibility Information

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience gained through professional practice.
• Proven experience managing complex air quality projects, ideally with at least four years of practical experience, including emissions monitoring.
• Practical experience of indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring and using a broad range of sampling equipment.
• Experience processing, interpreting and reporting emissions and ambient air quality results.
• Proficiency in atmospheric dispersion modelling and impact assessment.
• A valid driving licence for use in the UK.
• A valid passport and willingness to travel where required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage air quality and odour projects across industrial, waste and wastewater sites.
• Collect and interpret environmental data from diagnostic monitoring campaigns.
• Develop bespoke measurement strategies and produce risk assessments and method statements.
• Coordinate project delivery with clients, internal teams, site operators and external consultants.
• Process, validate, adjust, analyse and report on environmental and emissions datasets.
• Undertake atmospheric dispersion modelling and impact assessments.
• Complete site surveys, including the calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of monitoring equipment.
• Support work involving odour control system design, ventilation assessments, emissions monitoring and occupational exposure surveys.
• Manage multiple projects while maintaining accurate, high-quality technical work.
• Travel within the UK and Ireland, with occasional European or international travel where required.

Essential Requirements

• Strong knowledge of UK indoor and outdoor air quality policy and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence working directly with clients and other project stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
• Willingness to travel, stay away from home and work flexibly where required.

Desirable Requirements

• Knowledge of industrial processes including wastewater treatment works, anaerobic digestion, landfill, energy from waste and power generation.
• Experience or an interest in occupational exposure monitoring, including dust, bioaerosols, noise or similar workplace environmental assessments.
• An MCERTS qualification.
