Salary/Rate: Negotiable DOE (Depending on Experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Design Manager - Facades
We are currently seeking an experienced
Design Manager with a strong background in
facades and external envelope systems to join a leading construction project based in
Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to work on a high-profile project, managing the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the facade design process from concept through to completion.
Liaise with architects, structural engineers, consultants, clients, and subcontractors.
Review and manage technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations, industry standards, and project requirements.
Coordinate design programmes to meet project milestones and deadlines.
Identify and resolve design and technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Attend design team meetings and provide technical guidance where required.
Manage design change processes and maintain accurate documentation.
Work closely with site teams to ensure design intent is delivered during construction.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction industry.
Extensive knowledge of facades, curtain walling, cladding, rainscreen systems, glazing, or the external envelope.
Strong understanding of construction methodologies and technical detailing.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet project deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common construction document management systems.
A proactive and collaborative approach to project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates will ideally hold one or more of the following:
Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, Architecture, Building Engineering, or a related discipline.
Membership of a relevant professional body (such as CIOB, RICS, ICE, CIAT, or equivalent) is advantageous.
CSCS Card (Manager or Professionally Qualified Person)
Knowledge of current UK Building Regulations and facade compliance requirements.
