Groundworker (Forestry Works)

APPLY Job Description

We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and hardworking Groundworker to join our forestry works team. This is a purely hands-on position combining civil groundworks and plant operation across various rural and woodland projects. You will play a key role in ensuring our projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard, while strictly adhering to on-site health and safety protocols.

Our Projects & Types of Work

Our team manages vital infrastructure and environmental maintenance contracts across expansive woodland environments. Your day-to-day operations will regularly include:

Forestry Road Networks: Upgrading, repairing, and maintaining timber extraction routes, haul roads, and forest tracks to withstand heavy machinery.
Drainage & Culvert Works: Improving and installing complex drainage systems, ditches, and culverts to manage water flow across rural terrains.
Civil Engineering & Infrastructure: Groundwork preparations for, and the installation of, bridges, walkways, and other woodland crossings.
Revetments & Bank Stabilisation: Installing timber or stone revetments and erosion control measures to secure banks and waterways.
Key Responsibilities

Plant Operation: Safely and efficiently operate machinery for forestry and civil engineering works.
Groundworks: Execute practical, hands-on groundworks (drilling, trenching, pipe laying, and manual tasks) as required by the project.
Health & Safety Compliance: Strictly follow risk assessments, site safety rules, and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and the team.
Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced groundworker who meets the following criteria:

CPCS Machine Card (Mandatory): You must hold a valid CPCS card to apply for this role. We are looking for operators with experience in Dumper, Roller, or Digger works—you do not need to hold all three tickets, but a current CPCS card is essential. Please Note: We strictly require CPCS or equivalent recognised qualifications. We do not accept NPORS for this role.
Experience: A strong, proven background in groundworks, civil engineering, or forestry infrastructure.
Driving Licence: Full, clean UK Driving Licence.
First Aid: A current First Aid at Work certificate is highly desirable.
What We Offer

Competitive rates of pay (£15.00–£21.00/hr, dependent on experience and tickets held).
Friendly working hours to support a great work-life balance.
Consistent, long-term work in a supportive, outdoor team environment.
Opportunities for career progression and further specialised training.
