Principal / Senior Power Grids Consultant
Shape the future of Britain's electricity networks
London or Bristol | Hybrid - 2/3 days per week | Full-time
We're working with a leading global energy consultancy seeking a Principal Power Grids Consultant to join its growing advisory team, with Senior-level candidates also considered for the right experience.
The standout opportunity is the chance to play a leading role in a major, multi-year DNO digitalisation programme, helping transform how electricity networks are monitored, managed and operated as the UK moves towards a smarter, more flexible energy system.
The role
You'll combine technical leadership, strategic advisory and client engagement, with the DNO digitalisation programme forming a major part of your work.
Alongside this, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio spanning network planning, electricity markets, flexibility, regulation, innovation and energy transition strategy.
You'll:
- Lead complex Power Grids consulting projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide strategic, technical and commercial advice to senior clients.
- Play a key role in delivering the major DNO digitalisation programme.
- Develop senior relationships across the GB electricity networks sector.
- Identify and shape new business opportunities.
- Mentor and develop consultants within the team.
About You
You'll ideally be an established Principal-level professional within the GB electricity networks sector, with experience gained within a DNO, transmission owner, NESO or consultancy.
You'll bring expertise in one or more areas such as:
- Electricity network planning or digitalisation
- Electricity markets
- Energy policy and regulation
- Strategic energy advisory
Experience with SCADA, OT, field devices or utility communications protocols would be advantageous, particularly for candidates with hands-on network digitalisation experience.
Most importantly, you'll be confident operating with senior stakeholders, leading teams and helping shape complex client opportunities.
Why consider it?
A rare opportunity to combine senior-level advisory work with a long-term, high-profile DNO digitalisation programme, alongside exposure to some of the UK's most important electricity network and energy transition challenges.
