Role Overview

As a Flooring Labourer, you will support flooring fitters by moving materials to work areas, receiving deliveries and maintaining safe and tidy working areas.

You will work closely with Site Supervisors and Project Managers, following all site rules, safe working practices and company procedures.

Important Eligibility Information

Due to Section 106 requirements, this opportunity is only available to residents of the London Borough of Haringey.

To be considered for this role, you must:

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist flooring fitters by moving materials to designated work areas
  • Maintain good housekeeping across all working areas
  • Clean up waste and carry out light sweeping where required
  • Check that floor protection is secure and does not create trip hazards
  • Use barriers and signage to protect work and material storage areas where required
  • Check work areas at the end of each day and report any issues to the Project Manager
  • Receive deliveries and check that materials match what has been ordered
  • Check delivery paperwork and retain delivery notes for the Project Manager
  • Report damaged materials and ensure they are returned with the delivery vehicle
  • Unload and distribute materials safely using suitable handling equipment where required
  • Store materials and hazardous substances correctly
  • Keep reusable flooring materials and offcuts for use in other areas
  • Assist the Site Supervisor or Project Manager with weekly stock checks
  • Maintain good working relationships with other trades on site
  • Follow FSC procedures when handling plywood, hardboard and timber
  • Comply with all health and safety requirements and IMS, BSI and ISO audit procedures
  • Sign in and out of the site each day

Requirements

  • Ability to follow site rules, safety policies and safe working practices
  • Ability to carry out physical work and move materials around the site
  • Understanding of safe manual handling practices
  • Ability to follow instructions from Site Supervisors and Project Managers
  • A reliable approach to site attendance, housekeeping and safety
  • Willingness to wear the required personal protective equipment at all times

You must not lift any item weighing more than 25kg without assistance or appropriate handling equipment.

Pay, Hours and Location

  • Pay: London Living Wage, £14.80
  • Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Location: Haringey
