About the Role & The company

We are recruiting on behalf of a thriving, award-winning multidisciplinary construction consultancy with a national footprint. Following a sustained period of success and expanding client demand, their established engineering division is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Building Services Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Plymouth, Devon.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an electrical specialist to work on diverse construction projects, take ownership of technical packages, and contribute to the growth of a supportive practice.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Delivery: Lead on the design and delivery of electrical engineering systems across a wide variety of public and private sector built environment projects from concept to completion.

Software Competency: Utilize key industry design software including Revit, AutoCAD, Amtech, and Dialux to produce accurate engineering drawings, schematics, and calculations.

Multidisciplinary Coordination: Work closely with internal mechanical engineers, architects, surveyors, and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.

Project Lifecycle: Take responsibility for technical packages, attending design team meetings, and seeing projects through to handover.

The role involves working across a varied mix of public and private sector built environment projects, including:

Commercial & Office Developments: Modern commercial office design, workplace fit-outs, and decarbonization/energy efficiency schemes.

Education & Healthcare: Schools, higher education facilities, and NHS/healthcare building services upgrades.

Residential & Local Authority Schemes: Housing developments, urban regeneration, and public sector building design.

Low-Carbon & Net Zero Initiatives: Building management systems (BMS), solar PV, heat pump installations, EV charging infrastructure, and building physics/energy modeling.

What You’ll Bring
Qualifications & Experience: HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent  technical background in Electrical Engineering (working towards or holding CIBSE membership/Chartership is welcomed, but not essential)

A solid technical background in electrical engineering and building services design.

Existing proficiency in—or a strong willingness to learn—design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Amtech, and Dialux.

A collaborative mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a drive to build a long-term career within a multi-disciplinary consultancy environment.
