Job Description:

Rullion is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior or Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our client's team in Basingstoke. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our construction and project management activities within the M&E field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.

  • Budget Management: Help manage project budgets and ensure cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Tendering and Procurement: Participate in the tendering process, including the preparation of tender documents and evaluation of contractor bids.

  • Contract Administration: Support the administration of construction contracts, including verifying payment applications and change orders.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation and records related to quantities, measurements, and cost data.

  • Site Visits: Occasionally visit construction sites to monitor progress and assess work quality.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with senior quantity surveyors, project managers, and other team members to ensure project success.

  • Other: Produce monthly applications for payment (AFP), Prepare and submit project variations and general change management, Assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks, Be familiar with standard forms of contract including but not limited to NEC3 & JCT, Negotiating Subcontract terms & conditions with our Clients & Sub Contractors, Preparation of Subcontracts, valuation of works executed by Subcontractors and certify interim and final payments.

  • Qualifications:

    • A degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
    • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply, but some experience or internship in a similar role is advantageous.
    • Knowledge of construction and project management processes.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
    • Contractor experience required.
