£150m Liverpool scheme to go ahead after legal ruling

30 Jun 10 A £150m construction project in Liverpool is set to go ahead after a High Court ruling.

A £150m construction project in Liverpool is set to go ahead after a High Court ruling.

The Project Jennifer regeneration scheme, backed by St Modwen, would deliver 481 new homes, community facilities, a 110,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s supermarket, 80,000 sq ft of other retail space, and public realm improvements to the Great Homer Street area, in north Liverpool.

Previously, an application by Tesco for a 90,000 sq ft store on the site was blocked following a public inquiry.

Manchester High Court ruled in favour of St Modwen's scheme yesterday.

Michelle Taylor, regional director, said: “This is great news for the Project Jennifer scheme and we welcome the court’s favourable decision.

“It has been a frustrating time for all involved. We can now look forward to delivering this transformational scheme for north Liverpool, bringing forward the development that the community has fully supported throughout this long process.”
