McLaren Construction is continuing its expansion into the hotel sector with a hat-trick of contract wins worth more than £13m.

McLaren has won two new design and construction jobs for Travelodge on behalf of Developer Stevens Properties in Ealing and Salmon Harvester at Maidenhead plus a major refurbishment for Citadines in Holborn.

Work starts in May on the Travelodge Ealing Hotel which will contain 99 rooms over six floors with a bar cafe on the ground floor.

Demolition of an existing villa on the site at the eastern end of the Uxbridge Road, along with an enabling works package, has now been completed ahead of a 40-week construction programme.

Off-site work will include precast stairs and bathroom pods which will be slotted into the steel frame structure.

Work is already underway on the Travelodge Maidenhead Hotel which will contain 96 bedrooms over six floors with two retail units on the ground floor.

McLaren’s contract for Citadines at Holborn involves a full refurbishment of 192 rooms over six floors including all the internal areas.

Renovation work will also be carried-out on the reception, lounges, back of house, gym and conference rooms alongside renewing elements of the building’s air conditioning system.

McLaren Group managing director Phil Pringle said: “These are three jobs highlight what great strides we are making in the hotel market.

“It’s a sector that we believe is still growing and we are looking to increase our profile in hotel construction.”
