Chicago Pneumatic adds light compactors

Chicago Pneumatic has expanded its mid-size light compaction range with the addition of two new reversible plate compactors.

Designed primarily for compaction of granular soils, the new MV164 and MV174 models are designed for operation in confined areas and trenching duties, either to complement or provide an alternative to the employment of drum roller machines.

The MV164 uses a 3.6 kW Honda GX 160 petrol engine, while the MV174 is powered by a Hatz 1B20 diesel engine that produces 3.1 kW. Each machine can achieve a maximum forward speed of 22 metres/min.

The compactors’ 450mm-wide bottom plate is made from Hardox 400 steel for durability. The new design incorporates a hinged protective hood that provides access to the fuel tank. The hood also has a foldable lifting eye to aid movement around and between sites. Accessories for the compactors include a wheeled transport device and block paving kit.
