Exeter acquisition for AFI

Light Hire, based in Exeter, will now operate under the AJ Rentals brand that AFI uses in Wales.

Founded by Brian Light in 1996, Light Hire has a fleet of nearly 100 machines operating from a depot in Exeter. These now join the fleet of 500 machines that AJ Rentals runs from depots in Swansea and Newport.

With a fleet of more than 4,500 powered access platforms, AFI is the UK’s second largest access hire firm, behind Nationwide (Lavendon).

AFI director Nick Selley said: “Light Hire is highly regarded for the quality of its equipment and high levels of customer service. Its fleet has been well maintained and has benefited from on-going investment. The acquisition is good news for Light Hire’s customers because we can offer them a UK network of 18 depots and access to a fleet of over 4,500 machines and a comprehensive range of industry accredited training courses.”
