The scheme will support the planned Mersey Gateway Bridge and Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, chief secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander confirmed today.
“We will offer a guarantee up to £500m to support investment in the Mersey Gateway Bridge, and a multi-billion pound guarantee to advance the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point,” he said.
“These deals aren’t yet done, but they are major steps forward for our country’s future,” he added.
The UK Guarantee Scheme has already provided assurance to investors in the Drax Power Station and the Northern Line Extension.
