Intermat build-up underway with heavy earthmoving kit launches

25 Jan 12 The countdown to Intermat 2012 has begun in earnest since Christmas, with a series of new earthmoving equipment launches.

Intermat takes place in Paris from 16-21 April 2012.
Intermat takes place in Paris from 16-21 April 2012.

This year's Intermat exhibition in Paris comes after a two-year break in the calendar of major plant shows, and most of the big manufacturers have a sizeable range of equipment to show.

It also comes not long after the arrival of the Stage IIIB emissions regulations, and many firms are launching compliant equipment at the show.

Doosan will introduce a range of new crawler excavators and wheel loaders. Its DX180LC-3 excavator, powered by the Doosan DL06 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, meeting Stage IIIB engine emission regulations through the use of EGR and diesel particulate filter (DPF) after-treatment technologies.

Doosan also adds a new articulated dump truck (ADT). The DA40 offers a 10% increase in engine power compared to the previous MT41 model.

New Holland has launched two heavy-duty crawler excavator models, the E385C and E485C, which use cooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) technology to meet the latest emissions standards.

The E385C crawler excavator weighs in at 38.3t and has a 213kW engine. The larger E485C has an operating weight of 51.1t and offers a net flywheel power of 271kW.

Case will unveil seven models in its Tier 4 Interim-powered C Series crawler excavator range, which it says are cleaner, stronger, more efficient and cheaper to run than the previous B Series excavator models.

The Tier 4 Interim compliant engines in the seven machines use cooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) to provide a cleaner burn, which Case says will deliver a 10% efficiency improvement.

The same technology will feature on Case's two new C Series short radius excavators, designed and built in Japan. Aimed to meet the requirements of European operators, the CX145C SR and production CX235C SR offer a 17.5% fuel consumption improvement over previous models, with 7% faster cycle times.

At the smaller end of the market, JCB is expanding its range of mini excavators with the launch of the compact tailswiing 8026 CTS.

The 2.7-tonne machine uses a dedicated boom and dipper arm, offering greater digging and lifting performance than competitive models, JCB claims.

There will be plenty more news about Intermat as the show gets nearer in our plant news section. Our Digger blogger Nick Drew, who will be attending the show, will also be writing regularly about new machines launches.
