Kent school job for Morgan Sindall

18 Apr 13 Morgan Sindall has won a £3.2m design and build contract to expand Fulston Manor School in Kent.

The project team has already started work on the new two-storey extension that had 16 classrooms.  Works include the adaptation of the existing building to link to the new building, external hard landscaping and the construction of new parking facilities.

A BREEAM excellent rating is targeted. The building has been designed so that its windows, walls, and floors are able to collect, store, and distribute solar energy in the form of heat in the winter and reject solar heat gain in the summer. It will also include photovoltaic panels, and will be naturally ventilated.

Head teacher Alan Brookes said: “Naturally, we are all delighted to see construction underway and are pleased that everything appears to be on schedule for opening in January 2014.”
