Skanska picked for Swedish hospital

10 Jul 17 Skanska is to build a care facility at Sweden’s Kungälv Hospital under a contract worth SEK 940m (£86m).

It has signed a contract with Västfastigheter for the construction of a seven-storey care centre of about 33,000m2 comprising 280 single-family care rooms. Skanska had already signed a strategic partnership agreement with Västfastigheter last year aimed at developing and building the New Kungälv Hospital.

The intention is that the new care building will be certified as Miljöbyggnad Gold under the Swedish Green Building Council’s scheme.

Construction will be completed in two handovers, during the third quarter 2019 and the third quarter 2020.
