Watch your noise

17 Apr 15 Svantek, a manufacturer of environmental noise and vibration monitoring instrumentation, has launched a new personal noise dosimeter for use in potentially explosive work environments.

The IS SV104 meter is a wireless instrument designed to be worn on the shoulder, close to the ear, to monitor actual noise energy. Features include octave band analysis, which apparently helps the user select the correct hearing protection, and audio recording. A full colour OLED screen displays information in both text and graphical formats, and is visible even in strong sunlight. Measurement data is safely stored in the unit’s 8GB memory.

The SV104 is compatible with Svantek’s Supervisor health and safety software package and it is powered by built-in rechargeable batteries. A USB interface allows data download onto a PC as well as easy re-charging.
