The Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) has selected Willmott Dixon to build the Harwell Facilities Building.  This will provide specialist support space allowing researchers to test and commission new scientific equipment for use on the campus and around the world.

Procured through Scape Group’s major works framework, Willmott Dixon is working with Oxford Architects, Clarke Nicholls Marcel and Aecom to complete the facility by spring 2018.

The project marks a return to Harwell for the contractor. It is less than two years since it completed the RAL Space facility for the STFC there, creating Europe’s largest and most sophisticated satellite design, production and research facility.

Peter Owen, managing director of Willmott Dixon in the Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be back working with STFC, where we will again deploy our highly experienced science and technology build team to create the exacting standards required for the testing of accelerator and scientific instrument components.”
