Principal / Associate Civil Engineer - Team Leader

I'm working with an established independent multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that is looking to appoint a Principal / Associate Civil Engineer to lead their London civils team.
This is a genuine team leadership opportunity, with responsibility for the day-to-day management, technical delivery and development of the London civils team. You'll report directly into the Civils Discipline Lead, who is based at another South East office but will also spend regular time working with the London team.
The role would suit an experienced Civil Engineer who enjoys remaining technically involved but is now looking to take greater responsibility for people, projects, clients and team growth.
The Role
You'll be involved in:
- Leading and managing the London civils team
- Coordinating workloads, resources and project delivery
- Providing technical guidance and design review
- Managing civil engineering projects from concept through to construction
- Highways, drainage, SuDS and development infrastructure
- Working closely with clients, architects, contractors and wider design teams
- Managing project budgets, programmes and technical deliverables
- Mentoring and developing engineers and technicians
- Supporting fee proposals, bids and business development
- Helping to grow the London civils workload and client base
- Working closely with the Civils Discipline Lead on the wider development of the discipline
About You
I'm keen to speak with experienced Principal or Associate Civil Engineers from a consultancy background who are ready to take ownership of a team.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong UK civil engineering consultancy experience
- Experience leading, managing or mentoring engineers
- Good technical knowledge across highways, drainage, SuDS and development infrastructure
- Experience managing projects and client relationships
- Good commercial awareness
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Chartered status or working towards Chartership
