Terex truck creates Carnage

Digger Blogger | 11:41, Thu June 14 2018

The Radio Times describes Sky’s new TV series Carnage as a cross between Robot Wars and Top Gear. So you’ll not be surprised to hear there are also elements of Mad Max and Wacky Races thrown in there too.

Carnage is hosted by Freddie Flintoff, Lethal Bizzle and Vick Hope and filmed in Tankwa Karoo National Park, South Africa. The makers describe it as “the most extreme contest on the planet where 30 purpose built, weaponised vehicles clash and smash in three thrilling arenas in the blazing heat of the vast, arid desert”.

But the contestants aren’t just battling with each other, trying to immobilise opponents’ vehicles; they also have to escape ‘The Pusher’, a heavily modified Terex 2766C articulated hauler, built in Motherwell back in 1997.

Dutch excavation and transport company Küper Transport uses a Hitachi Zaxis-6 super long front excavator at a Wienerberger brick factory near Pannerden in the east of the Netherlands.

Delivered in October 2017, the Hitachi ZX300LC-6 special application machine has been selected by Küper Transport to create the correct mixture of materials.

The first stage of the process involves building a stockpile – 200-metres long, 28-metres wide and half a metre high – containing different materials such as various types of clay, lava rock and sand that are delivered by truck. The super long front’s 15-metre reach is used to scrape and flatten each load into an even layer. Once all of the layers have been prepared, the ZX300LC-6 is then engaged to mix the various types of material to the specification required by Wienerberger to make the bricks.
